An Introduction to River Cruises

admin May 31st, 2009

River Cruising represents life in the slow lane, a gentle pace, enjoying all the scenery and exploring riverside towns and cities en route. River Cruising is a calming experience in comfortable surroundings with good food and company. There are millions of people who take a River Cruise each year with Europe and the Nile the most popular destinations.

A River Cruise is vastly different from an ocean cruise with almost constant sight of land and stops far more frequent. Ocean vessels tend to be much bigger, more flashier and busier. River vessels are smaller, friendlier and are like “floating inns”. When a river vessel docks you just walk up the gangway and into a town or city which is normally located at the heart of things. When an ocean vessel docks you have hundreds of people queuing to get onto the gangways and then onto port which normally is away from the heart and transport is required to take you to the cities and towns.

Even though there is a vast difference between Ocean and River cruising, those of us who enjoy the relaxing life afloat are also attracted to them both.

Cruises are often referred to as holidaying on ‘floating hotels”. Whilst aboard, you will enjoy full board accommodation. You will be able to relax on the sun deck, soak up the sun whilst watching the world go by as you socialise with fellow cruisers. Best of all you can explore all the different destinations on your journey, without having to change hotels and waking up to a new view each day.

Relax aboard your floating hotel as you sail along some of the world’s most beautiful waterways. Meander along the rivers of Europe, such as the Danube, the Rhine, the Rhone, the Douro and the Seine to name a few.
